More twists and turns then a mountain road. Just when you think you know who the villain is something happens to make you doubt. Would have given five stars but the graphic descriptions of the victims trials grossed me out! Thanks for the great read

Mummy Favourite Top 10 bestselling serial killer thriller DC Charlotte Stafford Series Book 1 edition by Sarah Flint Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

I'm glad I'm an only child after reading this dark and disturbing book. Well written and a gripping thriller all the way to the tense and unpredictable end. Kudos to Sarah Flint for keeping me awake at night with her dark tales.
The plot is good. The details of the murders rough, although I have read worse.
I would recommend this book to true mystery buffs.
I will definately let my friends know about this author and the fantastic book I have just read. Talk about not being able to put the book down, wondering what was going to happen next.
Not a story I enjoyed as, not far into this book I had suspected the who the murderer would be. A well written book although a bit too much fill. Other books of this genre have humour which I enjoy from U.K. authors .
A great 'who done it'! I could not figure out who it was and I am usually pretty good at figuring it out before the end...not this time! Excellent writing although some of the British phrases were...ummm different for this Maine girl...LOL
Great story line (although quite gruesome) and a terrific cast of characters!
Before reading my review and sinking your teeth into what I have to say while resting every bit of faith you have in my words, please remember, a review is designed to be from one persons perspective. It's personal. It is not how everyone will feel. This is a new book and these reviews will make or break this author, so please remember to be fair and honest. Here is my honest review

Before today, I had never given a review any less than 3 stars, but I cannot in good conscience give any more than this. I am regretful to say that this book was not my cup of tea. I was intrigued by the cover and very excited to read the book, however, I was disappointed. The story-line itself was incredibly vulgar, not just in speech but in content. "Well, it is a mystery thriller..." yes, it is. I've read many, many, many, many, many mystery thriller books, some with even more disturbing themes than this one, however, what really made this book unlikable to me was the way the story was written.. The writing style was very disturbing to me personally. This book had graphic and traumatic scenes such as when a mother molests her small child and yells abusively at him simultaneously telling him how he is a bad boy. There is also a horrific scene in the woods where a woman is raped, in graphic detail, in front of her own small child.

I thought perhaps the detective side of the story would be better, but I found it to be uninteresting, and somehow, repetitious in descriptive. For example, let's say the Author was trying to tell us there was a green dress, it would go something like this "The dress was the color of a tree frog. The dress looked as green as grass. The dress was the color of fresh leaves. The dress was between yellow and blue. The dress was the color of algae. The color looked like that of palm branches." Perhaps, the Author couldn't decide how she wanted to describe something so she kept all of her options rather than choosing just one.

I seldom put a book down, even if it is a bit bland, but this book was a big challenge for me. I've read 5 books in between reading just this one book, and I still only made it to page 102 out of 268. I feel it is unfair to judge a book before completing it, however, this was the exception for me. I could not continue to read any more. I didn't connect with any of the characters and disliked very much the portrayal and attitude of men toward women. I found the characters to either be boring, perverse, or over exaggerated, and found the story itself to just be lacking. To be fair in addition to not being able to stand not knowing for certain what the ending would be, I skimmed very loosely over the next hundred pages to see what happens in the end and I was not at all surprised by the ending, as I myself had already reasoned this to be the logical finish. In my opinion, if you write a predictable story, then it must be compensated by having a gripping and interesting journey to the ending. I think maybe this book could have been better if it had gone through an editor, and I'm not sure if it did or not. It's possible that editing will help.
I really enjoyed this book..I loved the characters and the storyline was so well written..it had so many twists and turns, I didn't want to put it down! I'm normally really good at figuring out who the killer/killers are pretty early on in a story but this one kept me guessing..I didn't figure out who the killer was until about 3 chapters before it was revealed! In the last month, I have read 23 other British murder mysteries/serial killer thrillers by 8 British authors, Sarah Flint being the 9th British author and this book being the 24th book..This book is one of the best so far..I've already purchased the 2nd book in the DC Charlotte Stafford series, The Trophy Taker, which I am getting ready to start reading..I recommend this book to all fans of murder mysteries/serial killer thrillers..You will not be disappointed..I hope that 'Charlie' has many more cases to solve and it doesn't end with the 2nd book.. I have become a huge fan of British murder mysteries/serial killer thrillers..I encourage fans to not only read this book but check out other titles by Angela Marsons, Caroline Mitchell, Carol Wyer, Robert Bryndza, Patricia Gibney, Linda S. Prather, Joanne Griffiths, and Rebecca Bradley..some of these authors books are available right now for .99 cents or 1.99..
